Squirrels are a bit evil and but they make me laugh

Squirrels are both stupidly-annoying, and stupidly-amusing! They eat my bird feeders- I wouldn't mind them eating the food, but eating through the physical feeders is rather annoying!

Having said that, sometimes when I walk into the garden I surprise a squirrel who runs at speed to escape me.. occasionally smacking into things (like the chicken wire fence), which is rather funny.

They just took out my entire almond crop this week.  OK, it's only one tree, and there were only about 50 nuts on it this year . . . but still . . . the nerve of the little vandals.  

They don't make me laugh.

Note the bird feeder bottom left, I gave up with the feeders after that.  It's a free for all now but I do notice there is a balance of sorts they all get a chance for some food throughout the day. The squirrels completed their work upturning the plant pot and knocking them off the table.  I have changed things around a bit now and have a bowl with some brick slabs in the middle and water bowl. I was rather spooked a few weeks back when there was a rather different thing going on. The slabs kept getting neatly lifted away from the bowl, I thought someone was messing with my head. I spotted what was actually happening when a magpie dropped by and casually lifted the slab with his powerful beak to get to the accumulating bugs and feed underneath.

One tried to kill me.  I was in my barn when a 2x4 came flying out of the rafters. I got my hand up in time for it to break my thumb.  At first I thought God was after me, and then I saw the squirrel.

Some time ago I made a natural sunning oil with black walnut oil and other good stuff.  A squirrel nabbed the entire bottle with the cap between its teeth, ran into a fence, tried to climb over, dropped the bottle, scurried back down to try again, by which time I came near enough that it ran away.  I thought.  About 5-ish minutes later the squirrel snuck up again, grabbed the cap apparently better than before, managed to get the bottle over the fence and was gone.  A+ for diligence! :)  I got an A- for not having considered the possibility.
