Yes, that's where I was looking. What I see are the First Scavenger Hunt and the Pollinator Scavenger Hunt. I was wondering if the Pioneer was actually the First? Not that it's important, but I figured it could get corrected if there's an issue with the programming.

strange that it sent you an email.

Hello there!  I have been trying to figure out how to change my Twitter username because I changed it recently.  However, I notice that it is only viewable on the "Mobile View" of my profile, not my "Desktop View" - is there something that was overlooked?

I also saw how you can put photos on, I am going to try it but I didn't see any measurement specifications - are there any?  I may give it a shot anyway!

Thanks for all of your help in advance! <3

I don't know anything about twitter usernames here on permies! Any chance you could get a screenshot of where you're seeing it on the mobile view.

As for pictures, you'll have faster upload times with smaller images, and the pictures will be reduced to something like 700 pixels wide. So, there's no need to upload anything bigger than that. But, there's also no penalties for uploading anything bigger, either. So, upload away!

I asked our programmers, and they said that the function had been disabled about 3 years ago, but somehow those who already had selected a twitter username got grandfathered in to have it show. It should be removed pretty soon.

For now, you could add your twitter user name to your signature if you'd like! Urls work in the signature, too (just use the same bb code that one uses in the main forum), like this [url=http://]webpage[/url], with your twitter username where "website" is, and the link to your profile where "http://" is.

I hope that helps!

I checked my own profile to see what i had done and in "the private notes about Hugo Morvan" it said " He's a total douche". Somehow, i think the notes are getting mixed up with other peoples notes about me.

Hugo,

This got brought to my attention, so we looked it up.

Apparently, this is note that is written by your account and viewable by only your account.   Perhaps there is somebody in your house with access to your computer playing a bit of a joke?

And suddenly it seems I have finished the scavenger hunt! I got a message from Gir Bot (thank you Gir Bot!), whil I was busy trying out a personal thread with photos on it. So it must have been my photo, the last item I missed in the scavenger hunt.

I found my way to where the Scavenger Hunt info is located hunting for another post I wanted to add a link to. I have known since shortly after joining permies about the Scavenger Hunt. I'm one of those who pushes all the buttons to find out what they do. But this time I see I am almost complete on the list and start reading through to see what it is I have accomplished and come across "Save thread as a bookmark". I want to fess up here and now that for just a moment and maybe a half, I wondered how in the heck you guys would know that I've saved thread as a bookmark? Cuz I am a "thread" saver; you know those threads that hold the bags of feed closed and if you pick them out just right, zip and the whole thing is a thread of about 2 yards or so?           (space left blank for you to process this small look into how my mind works!)      Yeah, like I said, only a moment or so before I realized what was REALLY meant!!! I even laughed at myself and wondered if that's how this aging brain thing goes.

Thank you for all everyone does here, because it is a wonderful community.

The "save as bookmark" thing isn't related to your browser bookmarks.  It's a feature on permies where you can bookmark your favourite threads (in desktop view it's at the top and bottom of every thread) for later.

R - I DID get that part of this whole thing and I'm guessing you are clarifying for others who might not get that!? I guess I was coming from that place where everyone else already knows the real story! Thanks for the additional!!

Denise, congratulations on completing your Pioneer Title!

It is not a bug.  Look on the profile page on the bottom left.  That is where you will find the Scavenger Hunts that are available for you.

As you complete different items the system checks them off.

You were made a Pollinator, at some point in time. Pollinator out-ranks Pioneer.

In the right-hand top on the Menu Bar which has a link to your Public Profile. When you click on that there is a drop-down menu.  From there you can pick "View Profile"

There are several levels on the Scavenger Hunt.  You have completed the First Scavenger Hunt and the Pioneer Scavenger Hunt.

Yeah, the wording is a bit silly when someone is already a Pollinator (or Gardener or Steward), but it'd take a bit of programming to make different emails for the different levels.

But, hey, you got a slice of pie from gir bot, so that's good!

Yea! Gir bot says I finished my pioneer scavenger hunt!! Gir bot is so sweet. I'm now a pollinator, but I think maybe my label already said I was a pollinator? Or maybe I'm dreaming. Anyway, what's in a name? It's always a pleasure to participate here. Hugs to everyone, it's 2022 and we all need them!

The next round of pollinators should be in a month or so.  I'm not sure.  There's a system in place that pokes the staff when it's time.

  • Well, I definitely qualify as disturbed....

I wasn't concerned about it, but I couldn't get the last one for the Pioneer, the bookmarked thread.  I finally noticed the button at the top of a page.  D'oh!  I've been a Pollinator for a bit now, so Pioneer won't show up anyway, although it did add another scavenger hunt.  Is it fair to assume that clicking on the bookmark bar chart in my profile will get me to them?  I guess I may as well go there from here and give it a shot.

In a matter of a moment I discovered there were two ways to get to my bookmarks - the menu from hovering over my name in the top right corner, or viewing profile, and selecting bookmarks.  I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

And another way I discovered fairly recently - you should be able to make the default view of the forums "with bookmarks"  - then as well as 'recent topics' in the main screen, your bookmarked topics are on the left in recent order too. If you use them a lot then you may find that a handy view too - I really like it, it shows me when my project threads are 'bumped' for example.
