The pictures of my grandmother's pumpkin and rhubarb pies are burned into my memory only. That's pumpkin pies and rhubarb pies not a mixture. She did make really good rhubarb and strawberry pies.

Grandma could roast any cut of meat and have it fall apart, when removed from the oven. Bones could be slipped out effortlessly and it was always spiced just right. Her kitchen smelled so good that everyone would gather and get in her way. Only those helping with the process were allowed within the work zone.

Grandma died 25 years ago, before fake meat had hardly touched the marketplace. She would not have been a convert.
