reusing mylar bags from purchased food products?

Most of my dry foods are vacuum packed in canning jars for storage. But I've noticed that many purchased food items are packaged in mylar bags: cereal, crackers, cookies, catfood, etc. My frugal gene can't stand to throw these out. But I don't know what I could do with them other than re-use them with O2 absorbers and reseal. Is anybody doing this? I hate throwing out things if I can find another use for them.

I wouldn't risk long-term storage in thin mylar already used once bags. Maybe for short term things for convenience. Good mylar bags are fairly inexpensive. I think I paid 36 cents a bag plus shipping. (1 gallon 5 mil thick)

I have noticed there is quite a difference in these various bags. Some are quite thin and tear easily, others (like the catfood bag) are quite sturdy. At least I'm assuming it was mylar---silver on the inside even though printed on the outside.
