Just got an organic "kit" for elderberry syrup, made it and love it.  Maybe it's something to add to our permaculture...we live in Iowa, USA, pretty sure they would thrive.  Anyway, would love to get your opinion on just how to best utilize the syrup I have and would REALLY like to know your thoughts recipes to make my own next time.  Thanks and welcome!!

My book has a number of recipes, including for syrup.  We are about to start selling DIY kits for making your own syrup and gummies on our www.abbyselderberry.com site.

Take the syrup daily - since I don't know the recipe, I can't comment on how much.  Many makers have little to no idea what their final concentration is, so are just guessing about how much people should take.  Our syrup is keyed to contain at least 300mg of elderberry per teaspoon (most likely closer to 400).  So people take 1-3 teaspoons per day of ours, more when exposed or fighting something off.

Yes, elder would do great in Iowa!
