Hi John, hi everybody!

It's cool to see this topic pop up right after I became a member here. For only about a month me and my wife have been talking elderberries. Our friend who doubles as our "natural remedies guru" basically called us out for NOT having any growing on our new property yet. So yeah, they are on the list for our upcoming plant order.

Of course though, my mind turns to alcohol (and to a lesser extent, Monty Python) and asks, what about elderberry gin? Like the subject line says, will all medicinal value be lost if the berries are fermented with the booze? What about adding some elder syrup to the product after it is finished? Will 80-proof make it a useless idea? I mean medicinally of course, the flavor added is a given.

Anyways, the book looks awesome. If by some unimaginable twist of fate I don't win it with this post I will definitely buy it. I am choosing elder as my gateway plant into natural remedies.

Woohoo!

Well I didn't win. Or get an  answer. Guess I'll have to buy the book and figure it out for myself...
