O.K., I'm pretty new at "permies", so, a dumb question. What does PEP the acronym for and what is PEP?
AND, to me a BB is what comes out of the end of a BB gun. What is your version of "BB" and what is it?

It's a good idea. There is a similar mentorship on Wikipedia: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters which I used as a beginner editor.

Ash, I would be happy to mentor someone, but first I do need to be shown how to do it.

Hey Jesse, welcome to permies. Are you able to see the 'glossary' at the top of the original post in this thread?  I don't know if the grey color I used is too hard to see.

742 - I would like to be one.
743 - I'm a homesteader educator so there is a lot of things I could teach.
744 - I currently do livestream on dlive, but I also have a discord channel. Zoom is possible just harder for me to do in the field.
745 - I think this is a great idea and we can grow and make it happen pretty awesomely

I'd love to have a mentor.  I am hoping to get a bit more land to do animals and such, but in the meantime, I am learning so much on my 1/3 acre in the suburbs.and my 6 kids are getting so into it as well.  These PEP things have been so much fun.  I'm pretty new here, so I'm still trying to find the master list, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying going over everyone's top 20.  Thanks so much for doing this!!  I certainly learn by doing and this is helping me to get up and get doing!!

Ok, I'm going to try the first BB Club zoom call Wednesday, July 22nd at 8am Mountain Time.  There'll probably also be some mentoring on PEP, too.

This first week, we'll be working on the Community Sand BB: Make a Map: https://permies.com/wiki/101705/pep-community/PEP-BB-community-sand-map

Time zone converter here: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20200722T140000&p1=3358&p2=tz_gmt&p3=51&p4=133&p5=3138&p6=246&p7=236&p8=22

Tell your friends! Join the fun; it's collective map-making time.

741- I'd like to be mentored. I'm super green, but eager. I rent a 3/4 acre plot in middle America. I would be intrested in community near my location. I have background in construction work, specifically working with metal. Please advise, and thanks in advance.

Hey Craig,
Welcome to Permies! Welcome to SkIP!

Hey everyone,

I found this site through the ERE forums and am becoming increasingly obsessed with permaculture. One problem though - permaculture is massive and overwhelming! I'm getting started with the BB program (nest and food prep seems like the best place to start), but would love to connect with a mentor to get advice from.

741 - I want one!
742 - Starting with Nest and Food Prep, eventually would like to move onto some land and be a Gert.
744 - Emails and a once-a-month Zoom call seem like they'd work well.
745 - I'd be interested in accountability partners too.

Peaceably,
Francis

741 - Me! Definitely me! Would love one.
742 - To be one would have to learn, and learn to be one. I think it would be cool to have a line of mentors that you can could track - who mentored you, who you mentored.
743 - One would be able to teach how to navigate, where to get started, and encourage on next steps/bits when feeling stuck.
744 - I like the idea of Zoom calls, or even a specific thread.

See the weekly calls are on pause, would be excited to join in on those too!

Areas I would jump in if I had a bit of support:
Community (#1)
Commerce
metalwork
Greywater and willow feeders (& a perma potty system ... quick install in several locations)

741 I'd love to be mentored
esp. in
community - I'm daily doing community service , but kinda watching how to focus community to self-identify. All nice and organic ... and unfocused when with a bit of focus I see magic on offer around here!

742 And when I got a working process I'd be delighted to mentor

743 - What would one do?
My thoughts follow
They'd Dialogue! Mentee would lead. The 2 together would form a kind of vehicle. Mentee is driving and sets the destination (which mentor agrees to at the outset). They discuss at the outset
- how they want to relationship to go. who does what when ... so that it gets going. And how reflection along the way can happen because ... life. It's inevitable that adjustments will need to be made along the way.

744 - Zoom works a treat in my experience.
745 - also buddies - a great idea! I'd be happy to be one.

741 - MEEE!
743 - I'm eager to learn more about alternative energy and building, as well as horticulture and botany, and I want to take my skills with people from running several event management groups in Texas and convert them to a village/group management skillset.
744 - Zoom, in person, FB, anything!

Hi Eric! As a happy "mentee" I can show you how I know I can be mentored and how I can mentor. BTW I was born in Carbondale and dad's family all from Stonefort so you in S. Illinois rings all my bells. Look 2 posts above and you'll see what I wrote as a starting point.

and I'm JaneELewis@gmail.com and you're welcome to write directly here. If we figure some stuff out of use to others (I'm quite sure we will) then we come back here to share back into the group.

sound good?

Hi!!!

741 - I would be interested in GETTING a mentor or finding a buddy in the area to work on projects and such with.
744 - I am on board to us Discord, Slack, or other means of contact.
745 - a BB would be great, if you are in the Syracuse NY area and need a buddy I would like to know you!

741 - I would like to be mentored.
742 - I don't have the badges yet, but reading through the badges I think that I already have quite a few skills. So once I get the respective badges I can be a mentor for others.
744 - Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram are all possibilities.
745 - I am German, living part of the year in Brazil (at the moment) a buddy in Germany or/and Brazil would be great.

At some point without a SKIP network in Germany/Brazil these skill badges won't get me connected to landowners. Is there any SKIPpers in Germany/Brazil?

Cheers Matthias
