In celebration of the up and coming earth day, I'm giving away my Wagner #10 cast iron skillet.  Exceptionally well seasoned.

By looking at ebay, it seems that this is of $50 value.

I bought it for $1 at a church sale.  It was a bit rusty - but I fixed it right up.

I wanna do this like what we do with the book promotions.  On April 22 (earth day) I will run my little winner picker program that will pick four posts, at random, from this forum (cooking and food preservation) from today through April 21.  I will then pick the one out of those four that seems like the best:  a good recipe, or a good question, or a fasctinating way to preserve food, or a great picture, or ...  whatever!  That person will get my Wagner!

So, the more you post, the better your chances of getting my skillet!

Okay... I'm thinking! I would like to win your waffle iron! Good to hear from you too, we should visit.

I was just talking to somebody about you yesterday.  Be on the lookout for a 20 year old fella wanting advice about getting the word out about carnation events.

I was thinking of putting the waffle iron on ebay.  It's sooooo big and I haven't fired it up in over a year!

Well, I don't have a good recipe but I'll tell you what, I love my cast iron skillets & would love to win yours.
Now, that might sound just a big greedy, but let me finish!
When I win, I would give yours to my daughter, Mary.  She is 31 and has 4 kids and cooks on aluminum, or *gasp*, non-stick coated pans!
My poor, poor little grandbabies are being served meals cooked in these deplorable pans.  I've offered to give her my skillets but she won't hear of taking mine from me.  They come with fond memories of Nana (me) cooking large breakfasts for the whole family at my house and of cooking over an open fire when we're camping.
Yes, we all go camping together once a year.  It's quite an experience with all of us (except my nature-impaired hubby) in attendance: me, both of my daughters, all 5 grandkids and at least one of our dogs, if not more.  I have been camping with the grandkids since the oldest, now 12.75 years old, was 2 years old.  I taught him how to start a campfire (my daughter wasn't exactly happy about that-probably why she goes with us now) and pitch a tent.
Why don't I buy her some skillets of her own, you ask? Well, we all know how store bought cast iron is AND (here comes the "pity" aspect to clinch the win!) my husband hasn't worked in 22 months and we're a bit short of cash.
All of what I have said is true, but I would really like to win just so I can see the look on her face when she hears that I won the skillet & am giving it to her!

Thanks!

Happy Earth Day.

Keep an eye out at those church sales!  That's where I got this one for all of one dollar.  It just needed a little TLC.

And remember, the more you post, the better your chances!

BTW I love the articles you sometimes write.  The first thing I ever read of yours was the article on ants.
Lots of good info & humorous-ya can't beat that!
