900amp batteries for free

i have a freind that works at a cable company he told me when thay check these batteries if thay are any thing below the factory amps thay give them away was woundering if thay woud be good for a solar battey bank and i can get them for free thay are 12volt 900amp but no cold cranking amps not sure what that means. what information do i need to find out about these batteries thay dont look like regular batteries thay are skinny and tall ill get a picture in a few days and post it

You need to find out if they are deep cycle batteries and what their chemistry is. If they are lead acid deep cycles then they can often be reconditioned. If not deep cycle then they may not be suitable.

my friends said thay check them with a volt meter and if the volts are under 12volt thay get rid of them im trying to find out if thay are deep cycle batteries or not ill proabley know in a few days he work nights and kinda hrd to catch him

those are most definitely deep cycle, and they are probably sealed lead/acid.

Able you are right thay are deep cycle batteries and thay are sealed im thinking of telling my friend to get me a couple and ill check them out first hand
