I'd like to build a RMH in my kitchen on the site of a defunct oil-fired Aga (now removed). All the local stove outlets only supply standard woodburning stoves and are not familiar with RMH.  I see most of you out there are in the US or Canada... is there anyone a bit closer to me in Devon, UK, who could help? I'm reasonably competent enough to build it myself, but since it's to be inside the house, I'd be happier with a build-buddy with a bit of experience. Alternatively could offload the whole project to someone else and just stand by and watch :-)

Hi Jane;    Welcome to Permies and Welcome to the wonderful world of rocket science!
I'm hoping someone on your side of the pond can come and assist you. But failing that we will do our best to guide you.

I have a link for a long post here at Permies.  It is from a lady in the UK.  She built her own tiny batchbox and absolutely loved it!

Check that out and then come back and tell us what you are thinking for your house.

I have discovered my inner Beavis through interpretive dance. I learned it from this tiny ad:
Switching from electric heat to a rocket mass heater reduces your carbon footprint as much as parking 7 cars
