Hi, is there a such thing as a community homestead that is conscious and self-sustainable for a mom and child? I didn’t mean for this post to be so lengthy but here it is 😄 lol.
I’m in Oregon and I’m looking for a place to live where I can learn everything about this life of connection with others and our earth, self-reliance and sustainability, and creativity and service to others.
I bought land and am paying it off, it’s in another state. My goals are to live in community and build on my current skills and be taught new ones, so I can help form a community on the land. I thought I was strange for this dream, but I’m coming across so many in the same mindset online, and I’m so thankful. Being a single mom without family or community has been the most detrimental to my son’s development, and to our physical and spiritual health. My son is on the spectrum and all that he needs to build confidence and push through his speech challenges have been removed by the change in our social structure since the virus. I would be so grateful for him to make friends and to be accepted. His speech is at a 4-5 year old level, although his academics are advanced for 7 years old. He has a very creative mind and builds elaborate roads and cities and freeway systems out of what he finds around him. He’s so sweet natured and loving.
I worked for the school district last year and was able to work in a classroom right next to my son’s, but that life was still not for us. Before the virus, I had made a decision to homeschool him and was in the process of finding little homeschool groups so we could have friends and support, but society changed and we have not been in connection with people this past year. Because I have this calling, this strong motivation to create a community where no one feels alone and we are living a real human existence, I jumped at the chance for land and before I have met anyone. All of the values I have and what I know humans need, drives me on several ideas to improve things for others. Besides the land, I plan on doing much to serve others. If I can be among like minded heart based thinkers, or at the very least more conscious and void of toxins in character, I will be most grateful.
Safety and real friendships are very important to me. I also want to bring my skills in hopes to be utilized and contribute to a whole.

College Studies were in the Humanities (all things human experience and condition, natural sciences), and Human Services (our systems), and while in the Human Service program I was trained to facilitate group therapies, individual, youth & families, in the realm of Chemical dependency. I did not go on to become a full on counselor but did have training; I pursued more education.
I love to grow food and take care of plants 🌱 I love to cook. Personally my diet is clean and mostly plant based, but that’s after my digestion has changed, I can cook meat based meals. I did take nutrition in school about 6 months ago and in the past I studied Ayurveda, the ancient health practice.
If you or someone you know feels alignment with this, please do contact me here or email me. I’m happy to give you my number if requested.
Interested in the same. If it's ok to ask, where is your property that you want to establish a community on? My husband and I want to start a community as well around spirituality, health, community and permaculture. We just aren't sure exactly where to take to root.

It’s in Colorado in the south part of the state. It would be cool to know several people and plan for the land together. Rather than heading to the land and starting there. I feel like organization amongst the group or team of people would be super productive and fun. Ideally I want to be taught and I want to study and form a group and a lot of confidence in this, then head over. I’m open to people helping pay off the land and own some of it as well. I want to look more into sound proof ways to do that; Punta Mona is a great model, but I’m open to learning from many areas and strategies so I’m informed and know what’s feeling right.
Thanks for the response. I’ll keep coming back to this post often today.
We're in Oregon. I'm the same age, have twin children on the spectrum and a nephew also. We are plammimg big things on some shared land with a friend here. We habe goats, chickens, mushrooms of various kinds, an ever expanding garden, are building tiny houses, homeschooling and doing a ton of forest work! We also enjoy nature time, foraging, board games, music around fires, art, cooking big meals, ans much more. We always welcome helping hands for learning and exploring permaculture ideas together. We don't plan to move to Colorado but if you are in the area and want to spend some time with us you're welcome to.
PS we are fragrance free because of some pretty severe reactions, if that works for you that's great, if not that is ok and we can pass on spending time in person
