Will chickens eat Yellow Jackets? My wife and I are planning on getting chickens soon. I discovered a yellow jacket nest in my garden, under my wolfberries. Will chickens eat these?

Yes, and so do our dogs. Spicy! Somehow they usually do it without getting stung. Usually.

that's interesting. our chickens regularly kill mice, snakes, and plenty of bugs, but I've never seen them go after stinging insects.

I found a giant water bug recently. briefly considered feeding that to the ladies, but it seemed like such a novelty to me that I took pity on the thing and put it back in the river. where it promptly died.

I've seen them go after wasps who make nests in the coop and the nests don't get too big.

Since yellowjackets make their nest underground it may be easier for chexkens to get them, right?
