Hi MK,
A gilt is an unbred she. She will be bred once a year to produce a litter. I always wait until they are over a year old. ( I don’t see money as evil, but I am not in this for the money). So she is neither for food, nor is she a pet. She is destined for a life a relative comfort. And I, of
course, have more
fence to run. KuneKunes try to be clean animals, with a little help from their caretakers. They have low odor, graze, and are not rough on fencing. My problem is we have had a great deal of rain in the past 30 days, and the current pens are not meeting my standards.
