Coconut Tree near another tree ?

Hi everyone,

I am planning a food forest on the 2 hectares fenced area we have in our village.

I wanted to plant some mangoes all accross the area using 10x10 as spacing
Several trees are already present (Shea trees more than anything), which means that in some areas a mango tree would have to be planted right next to an existing canopy tree (less than 5 meters). It sounds like a bad idea so I consider planting some other type of tree.

What about palm trees ?

Would a coconut thrive less than 5 meters from a Mango Tree ? The Coconut seems to have the potential to reach for light over the canopy of the mango trees. Would this work out ?

Yes. I've seen a mature example of that in Soritor, Peru.
