So glad to have found this site through Sara's website. Can't wait to browse around a bit!
My current food as medicine question would be if there are any foods that can be used either topically or eaten that could help get rid of warts. My 12 year old daughter has tons of them all over her hands and is very embarrassed. I'm wondering if it could indicate some deficiency that could be remedied with diet. We've tried duct tape, apple cider vinegar and garlic topically. All have brought down the size of the warts but don't kill them and then they come back and multiply! Any ideas would really be appreciated!

I would try the homeopathic remedy Thuja.

All our feral gang of kids had warts until we heard that rubbing them with raw meat on a full moonv and burying it in a secret place would get rid of them.
And it did!
We had a great time with all the secret-magic-business, but I found out much later there's something in meat proteins that kills warts. Boring!
Sorry, not really 'food as medicine', well I suppose it is here, in an external kind of way

I have read that warts are a sign of potassium deficiency. Eat some high potassium containing foods like bananas, avocados, dried figs and apricots. Raw almonds, molasses, grass fed beef and liver, raw milk. Change to Real Salt that is not processed and has trace amount of many minerals.

My neighbors Mother used to get tons of warts on her hands and this problem disappeared after she started taking a daily dose of fermented cod liver oil, so yes I do believe it can be a sign of a weakened immune system and/or nutritional deficiency.

I was coming to this site to post this very same question...my 3-year old son has a wart on his hand that we have been 'fighting' for a year and a half. He just had it 'froze off' for the third time today. While at the dermatologist's office, he suggested my son taking Zantac...has anyone ever heard of that as an option? I don't know much about Zantac, and have a feeling it's not a great option, but just curious if anyone had ever tried that. Seeing as this is a 'food as medicine' forum, I doubt anyone would suggest Zantac (and I, quite honestly, will try just about anything before I go that route) but I was just curious.
I DID just order some fermented cod liver oil today for the first time, so maybe that will finally 'do the trick'. My kid is a trouper...he's had this proceedure done 3 times with no numbing-tough little boy. But I feel like there's got to be a better way...

Garlic!! Inside and out!! Eat it raw (I press it and and to a little water and drink fast with a water chaser) and put a thick cut piece of raw garlic on the wart with a bandage. We do this through the night because it is annoying and starts to feel sore. We let the kids take the bandage of during the day and do it another night. The garlic drew the root of the wart right up to the surface of the skin. We let it be for about a week. Then the whole wart fell of with the root upon a little exfoliation. Hope this helps! Garlic is some tough stuff!

I was told to put a piece of banana skin on the wart and keep it there with a band aid. I haven't tried it but if potassium deficiency is the cause of warts it makes sense.

My 9 year old son had about 60 warts over his two hands and lips a couple of years ago, and my 13 year old son had 5 or 6. We tried everything we could think of - the ACV, the duct tape, different homeopathics/ointments, the garlic, banana skin, etc, etc, but nothing worked. We went on GAPS two years ago, so were eating a very nutrient dense diet - nothing happened the first 10 months or so, in fact more came, then they started disappearing and by the time school started the second year they were totally gone - very cool!

Now that is a good answer! Because of course it starts out internal!!! I'm so glad that we have access to the GAPS diet!!
