It's fall in the Northern Hemisphere.
I have been eyeing some stuff that I need to pick now so that when I have projects to do in winter I am not wishing I had gotten them when I could.

I'm looking at the amok grapevines here, we made a beautiful wreath a couple of years ago, and may need to make some more. Now is the time to cut vines!

What do you need to harvest this fall so you have it later? Got it on your to-do list?

:D

I need to gather and store firewood like the squirrels gather nuts
just yesterday I tried mowing around my 6 yr old chestnut trees. no nut production yet, so ill let the grass grow so local deer population will be less likely to chew the trees down.

Last evening, I finally harvested the mullein that volunteered in my strawberry bed. There is a huge crop of late boneset that I keep eyeballing (that's a stupid story, ugh). I've brought in all the sumac I can reach, but it's sitting out in the garage, with the aforementioned mullein, and some drying peppergrass, to let all the little creepy- crawlies find their way to a better home, before I process it. Still staring at me, are the blackberry leaves, rapidly losing their potency, that keep getting pushed down the priority list, and the lespezeda that needs to be cut, dried, and baled, for the goats' winter pleasure. I wish we had grapevines to cut for weaving!

I need to get out and collect some long pine needles, as I'd like to weave a few baskets this winter. It requires going up the mountain a bit as there are mainly just red cedars, spruce, and firs around me. Should probably do that before the wet season really gets underway...
