I planted a couple of apple trees that i bought from Home Depot last fall, a Golden Delicious, and a Red Delicious. I did some pruning when i planted it, but i think i may have not taken enough off, so i was hoping for some advice.

This first tree has a large branch that kind of comes out the side and then goes virtually straight up, but it has several "good" looking branches. Branches that under my understanding are good branches for fruit. However based on what i read this whole branch should go since it isin't my leader.

Anyone familiar with apple trees that can point me in the right direction.

my other tree is doing this thing where the leader had been pruned and it has a couple of shoots (i think thats what they are called) shooting up right next to each other. My thought is that i should completely cut off both of these two shoots, or just cut one of them, or just take some off of one or both.
