I sprayed a patch of lawn (mostly weeds and crabgrass) that I want to sow wildflower and legume seeds in. After only a few hours and it already looks dead.
How much longer should I wait before direct sowing seeds?
Or should I try to start the seeds in pots and transplant (would mulch the area while I wait for them to grow)?
Yup, it's basically medium chain triglycerides (C8 & C10), probably includes a surfactant. Which is funny since I'm a gene carrier for MCAD deficiency; MCAD is an enzyme needed for metabolism of MCTs. If I eat coconut oil I get attacks of tremors (I used to think they were hypoglycemia attacks but after wearing a glucose monitor I found out my glucose is normal during these episodes).
So the plants and I have something in common.
What you are saying is that this is an oil that kills weeds? Is it coconut-based?

I don't know if it is derived from coconuts - the cheapest source for MCT oil is probably palm oil; it's possible it is synthesized from other fats from other sources. But the active ingredients are the same as what they sell as MCT oil supplements. It's possible the spray would kill beneficial mycorrhizae since MCT oil is often used as an antifungal - so that's a potential downside. I doubt there's much beneficial mycorrhizae in that patch of ground, though.
Well I learned something new today. I don't use industrial strength vinegar sprays either, but I have other solutions.
Reading what I could find on it they recommend reapplication every 2 to 3 weeks so I suspect that's the time frame to start with.
Many weed seeds need light to germinate so covering the ground will reduce the growth of new weeds. A good organic mulch will also help keep the ground soft so you can easily pull weeds when they do pop up. Combining these techniques with a root barrier to keep out plants that spread underground makes our garden much more manageable.
