This is the second year I've been overwintering my best beets and growing them out for seed. What I didn't expect was the wonderful perfume of the hundreds of tiny flowers. My best description is sweet, floral, with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. The golden beets seemed to be the most scented but Bulls Blood had some scent also.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes,.....the irony being that many I know, while in agreement with your observation, unfortunately have developed terrible allergies to beet pollen along the way.  I'm glad to not be one of them so I can still enjoy a field full of pollinating beet flowers without reacting.  Did not know that the scent varied between the different colored beet varieties.  Thanks!...

Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins anyone?
I have longed to smell that after reading that book. 😅
