Some epic art has been hand-crafted by Kai and installed here at base camp. This has made my week. My month. Maybe my year.

The first picture is from earlier this morning, inside the gate. Initially, a wood and wire gate was created, with wire fencing on either side. Last year, Josho Somine created the roundwood archway, which was a different size than the first gate. The archway, the gorgeous gate, and the junkpole fencing on either side has all combined to be a HUGE upgrade and just pure joy.

The gate leads into the first paddock at base camp, which is at the north end of the fisher price house. The paddock is for future livestock (when we have at least 1-2 more paddocks fenced and lush with forage) and to keep deer and turkeys out of our growies.

The custom handle is epic, too.

This makes me insanely happy that Kai is still creating art - I have his art everywhere in our house! Thank YOU for posting pictures and letting me stalk my son from afar

Oh so glad to have you here on the forums, Amy! Kai is pretty amazing - kudos to you!

Kai has filled in more of the fencing - artistically, of course! - to help it be more chicken proof. We so look forward to having chickens here.

I love it!! I might have to borrow him this summer to build me one....if I can get him back here -- he loves it there. I have been stalking this forum pretty much since he left CSU and decided to move there.

(also, tell Kai I want him to make you a chalk pastel if he hasn't yet -- i think he brought some of his art stuff there.. but i will send it if he didn't. Thanks for the pictures, and for feeding him -- he says you make delicious food!

Today's bee waterer - set up in less than 5 minutes.

Some day hope to replace the plastic with something better, though after fishing a drowning bee out of a bucket, I figured something is better than nothing!

I was happy to see this guy on our back porch. He might have hatched out of a compost bucket I left there a few too many days.

He did not care I was there or stepping over him to get a pic. In fact, it seemed as if he was sizing me up, saying "bring it!"

Is that a black soldier fly?

He seems "furrier" than other pictures I've seen.

Fred thought it was different than a BSF, too, though now I can't remember what he said!
