We have a new instructable on how to tan and process rabbit furs. In this example, we make a a rabbit fur hat.

there are lots of methods for tanning, each having their own chemicals and methods. We prefer the battery acid method because it is fast and easy. Because we butcher about 400 rabbits a year, we need a method that is low labor.

If you want to go the all natural route, do some research on brain tanning.

As expected, we are getting a lot of negative feedback from animal rights activists on this article. While this doesn't surprise us, it is surprising as to how hateful some of these people are.

Some people get it, though, and that's who we wrote the article for!

Thanks to everyone for their positive support!

Great Instructable, Abe! As are all of your others, I might add.

I'm surprised by the reactions in the comments - nowhere on Instructables.com does it say it's only for vegans! If you don't like something, just move along. Good on you for posting useful information anyway, and not bowing to the crazies.

I've got some baby rabbits at the moment that have beautiful fur colours, so I'm hoping to give this project a go someday soon!
