Seachar.org is hosting 3 biochar-related events this week. The biochar-making stove workshop is Sat, Aug 1 at South Seattle Community College (the home of our test plot work) from 10:00-4:00. We will be making Top Lit Updraft stoves under the direction of TLUD expert Dr. Paul Anderson.  Tools and materials will be provided; cost is $35. Pre-register by emailing art.donnelly@seachar.org

Seachar is also hosting a presentation by noted Biochar expert Dr. Paul Anderson at 7 pm on Thursday, July 30 at South Seattle Community College.  Dr. Anderson will speak about the role of fuel efficient, clean burning, charcoal producing stoves as a critical response to environmental and health challenges the world faces. His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion including Dr. Susan Bolton, University of Washington faculty mentor for the student chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB), and Scott Eaton of SeaChar.Org. Chan Education Center, room 101; Open to the public, free of charge

On Friday evening, July 31st join Seachar.Org and Char For Change for our 1st annual: Black Earth Ball - a social evening of music, food and dancing in the moonlight. We will host the rocking roots sounds of: Big Dirt, featuring the guitar genius of UW Prof. David Montgomery. David is perhaps best known to most of you as the author of “Dirt: The Erosion of Civilization”. Refreshments provided. Suggested donation is $10. Gates open at 7:30pm and the music plays from 8:30pm to 10pm
