Lately, I have seen lots of use of "XD".

I did a search and there are 208 posts using the term "XD"

I asked Google who said "something about Adobe."

Would someone clue me in.

It's a variant on a smiley face. My smiley faces I type are colon capital D,  sometimes it stays t hat way, sometimes it turns into an emoticon, due to how the software here renders it.

XD is squinchy eyes laughing and the software here doesn't render it that way.

Which smiley faces are already programmed into the system so that when we type the code it shows the smiley face?

I am not sure I am using the right terms.

I think it also means "extreme duty."

The xd at the end of a sentence I can understand.

Like these:

Amir said, "so I came here to ask XD there are some big chips in my composted manure

Maybe extreme decision

Maybe meant XP-expert

Cecile said, "and a very messy person (adhd?! XD)

joshua said, still too much "LOL XD BACON"

First one I'm not sure of, other two were smileys.
First one probably was too.
"so I came here to ask there are some big chips in my composted manure"

Sometimes (only sometimes? LOL !!! ) smileys get put in line.
( BTW, the LOL was was for example effect, I find it a vile term, up there with ROFL. )
