hi all!
primarily i'm looking for a place to call home and would be happy to trade my skills for a place to live

i'm sort of a quiet type until you get to know me, but i am inquisitive and am always looking for better ways to solve problems

i have sort of a preference for the N.E. part of the country, but would consider going further for the right opportunity. i do not like the hot, humid weather of the south!

i would like to live and work in a remote area, away from the clutter of modern day society. i am fine on my own for extended periods in remote locations and i love the woods, animals and water

please understand that i am not an expert in any single field, but i have at least some experience in the following...

* property caretaker/security
* "MacGyverism" - ability to solve problems and improvise
* plumbing, drain and septic including copper, plastic and PEX
* roofing (shingles, roll roofing - NOT something i want to do allot of!)
* basic carpentry, framing and construction
* some small boating skills
* heavy equipment operator including loader, dozer, backhoe, excavator, off-road trucks and tractors
* painting (brush, roller, spray - building and automotive)
* basic mechanical skills (automotive, heavy equipment, general)
* MIG and stick welding, plasma cutting
* basic metal working and fabrication
* moderate PC skills including basic CAD, website design, blogging, graphic manipulation, word processing and security
* very basic electronics skills
* aerial and ground based robotics platform design, modification, maintenance and payload integration
* photography, remote RC/UAV/RPV photography, darkroom production, television production and graphic arts production
* some experience with horses

this page is a little old, but you could learn a bit more about me here

thanks Judith!

i learned a bit about the mass heater stoves and find the tech pretty interesting. i'm quite familiar with the suppression of many low-cost energy devices, but now i have to wonder if that extends to wood burning also

Hi Larry,
If you hav'nt found your new position, would you be interested in working in NW RI on some projects like rocket mass heater making for a greenhouse containing an aquaponic system? The property in wooded, with a few lakes very nearby. I read your bio, liked your style and openness in how you describe yourself and skill, also, loved your photography. I am a working, single mother of one mature independent, responsible teen who I am very close to and we would like to find someone interested in bartering accommodations for help with our plans, and or maintaining the property short or long term. The area is very clean, good well water, and lots of wildlife. I could be flexible with the arrangements, and I believe the right fit (personality wise) is what's most important for a productive, mutually beneficial collaboration. There is a small house, (that we live in now), a two car garage, two sheds and a camper set back in the woods, plus, there is room for more, as well as additions. Please take a moment to reply even if your not interested, just so I will know you received the message, thank you, dianna

hi Dianna - thanks for the reply!

i have an interview scheduled for a small cabin rental outfit at the end of the month, so i'll have to see how that goes first

i am looking for a position that can at least pay for all my expenses (basically food, clothing and any other necessities - not much at all really as i don't require allot). having said that, if you're still interested, let me know and if i don't like the other opportunity, i'll get back to you

Thanks for getting back to me, and good luck with your upcoming appointment.
Although at this time I am not in a position to offer a salary, possibly you may still want to consider this opportunity if you could arrange for creating some other income source, as the amount of free time you would need for that could be completely up to you to arrange at your discretion. For example, odd jobs in the community, or an internet business, like ebay....
just food for thought, on my end, lots of flexibility.
again, good luck and happy trails,
Dianna
