Hi everyone!
I’ve recently been inspired by Geoff Lawton and the Greening the Desert videos on YouTube.  I’m interested in attempting a forest garden on my property in southern Arizona, zone 8b.  I know almost nothing about permaculture other than watching a few short videos on YouTube and reading Brad Landcaster’s books on capturing the rain (this may even be a stretch to call this permaculture?).

That being said, I’m not really sure where to go for information.  It seems so much of permaculture design is based on the climate you are in.  I’d like to find some resources that are specific to my semi-arid climate.  Plants that grow naturally on my land include white thorn acacia, ocotillo, little leaf sumac, adams needle yucca, mariola, among others.

Could anyone out there point me in the right direction for resources to turn my semi-arid landscape into a food producing green oasis?

Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forum!

To me, Brad Landcaster is very much a part of permaculture because all plants need water to grow and Brad Lancaster teaches folks how to do it.

The forum has some folks from Arizona and New Mexico so they might speak up with some recommendations.

I learn almost everything I know about permaculture here on the forum by asking questions.  So my suggestion would be to ask lots of questions and the folks on the forum will teach you what you need to know.
