Remember that knotty, twisted holly tree I began working on a few months ago... well, this is what I have carved by the mid-point of the year.  I think I started with it in April.  Each piece was a learning experience, working with knots and the wood.  I am pleased and I think I will be ready to sell some soon!

I thought the title said 'holy carvings' and was confused why the spoons and knives were holy, but thought it was maybe something to do with the quasi-spiritual process and meditative concentration required while coaxing new forms from living materials...

Then I read the rest of the text and realised I'm just an idiot, haha.

Nice pieces! I bet they'll look really lovely when well worn with use.

I'm even worse at misreading - an ex-girlfriend of mine was named Holly.  So whenever I a notification that someone liked this post in my inbox, I'm like "Oh no, not her again!"

Here are my latest I carved a salad set and two cooking spoons yesterday... my blisters have blisters! The grain pattern and color of wild cherry is really pretty though. I think someone will enjoy them. A lady in FL ordered several sets of cooking spoons last Monday, so I've been carving this pattern almost constantly all week.
