facebook : dancing root permaculture project

Hi Friends,

We are looking for an WWOOFer or two at our mini farm for the summer growing
season. It's always nice to have someone come recommended, if you
know of anyone who might be interested please pass this on. The
description is below.

I think it makes the most sense for a student but, who knows? All
food/housing/transportation is covered + a meager stipend for extra
stuff one might need during their stay. Ideally, the interns have had
agriculture experience and have an ongoing art practice.

Summer at Dancing Root is really dreamy- it is a lot of work but we
have tons of fun, I am looking forward to securing a hearty and happy
person to help us as the project develops.

Thanks for forwarding this on to anyone you know who might be interested!
Sending love.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Dancing Root Permaculture Project explores the interaction of Art and
Agriculture. We subscribe to a diversified culture for both plants and
animals. The project is four years old and is situated on 13 acres of
forest, wild bee pastures, habitat for chickens, vegetable and fruit
gardens. This year we will add rabbits and pigs or goats and small
construction projects using salvaged materials, stone, and cob.
Integral to the project is our greenhouse, and kitchen. Putting food
by begins in early August. Our intern will have to opportunity to
learn different food storage, and processing techniques.

The goal of the project is not to maximize production but to establish
an equilibrium between many varied species and to focus on the
contribution they make to each other and thus to the overall
productivity and health of the farm.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

We are looking for an intern to join us for the summer season; May or
June through late August/September. A strong work ethic, affinity for
children, flexibility and clear communication skills are integral to a
successful exchange. Our intern will be responsible for their
individual chores 7 days/week, 5 days will be dedicated to the set
farm schedule and two days/week interns will be free to work on
personal projects. We'll have field trips together to any workshops,
talks, and gatherings that are of interest.

Shared housing is available, interns are welcome to also camp on the
property. 6 mile bike ride to Montpelier.

Meals will consist mostly of what is available on the farm, bountiful
vegetables, fresh eggs, pork, basic grains and legumes. Cooking duties
will be shared be all.

A weekly stipend of $30

PERSONAL PROJECTS:

Our intern is encouraged to continue and explore their individual art
practices during their time at Dancing Root. Our intern will also be
asked to submit a personal project proposal to be worked on during
their stay. This project will be based on the farm's needs and the
interests of the individual. Projects may focus on:

- pastured heritage poultry, rabbits, pigs, goats

- compost systems

- grazing systems

- specialty vegetable and herb production

- soil health
