Any tips on ways to preserve plantain other than making an oil based salve?
I have good luck with making good salves from dried plantain and usually olive oil. However I'd like to explore other ways, for wounds that would benefit from a non-oil substance (like burns because oils hold in heat) and to reduce my dependence on oil...olive oil. Lol.
Perhaps a sort of low temp infusion in aloe juice? I think that would require refrigeration though.
Maybe just drying the leaves and crushing them into a poultice as needed? Don't reinvent the wheel, right....
Plantain, dried and made into a strong tea can also be used as a compress. Pureed fresh, spread onto cloths, then frozen flat, it also works as a poultice.

In the past, I have dried mine using my normal drying process and then stored it in a jar.
I would strongly consider making a tincture using just alcohol. No fancy method.
