Hi,

Could someone recommend a good source of info on transforming existing forest into more productive food forest? I'm thinking best approaches to propagate fruit and nut trees into existing forest where they don't currently exist.

I'd be really interested in hearing about examples of people who've done it in North America, or any recommended reading.

Thanks!

What type of forest are we talking about? How old are the trees/how big, how dense is the forest?

I've done work in a few types of forest each required a different approach. Mostly with oaks and pine. Most of the time the canopy way too dense. poor trees and deadwood undercanopy was usually culled first before any design was thought of. Others you can start earthworks right away in areas where the forest allows.
