ok, so, ive been seeing alot of this guy. havent just went ahead and eaten him yet, but i did chew on some leaves and spit it out. tastes kinda rough and chlorophyll-ish.
the leave are spiky, but not like thistles, they wont draw blood even if you rub them on your face. ive been seeing them starting around april 13th in muncie indiana, growing in fields mostly. grassy places. seen a couple in some gravely areas.

anyway, here it is,









anyway, hopefully this is edible, because it seems tasty.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's a young moth mullein (Verbascum blattaria). Letting it flower would give a more definite ID.
