When I consider the current slate of candidates and how it seems we're sliding closer and closer into the certainty that Idiocracy wasn't a movie but rather a documentary...

I present to you, once again, my choice for President of the United States:

Vermin Supreme

His platform is usually that if he's elected, everyone gets a free pony. And then he turns around and says nobody will get a pony, because when politicians lips move, they're lying.

Anyhoo...let's get out there and grow things.

j

P.S. The only reason I posted this is because Idiocracy was actually a movie about Permaculture. Joe makes them stop spraying their crops with Brawndo (toxic gick -- it's what plants crave!) and start using water again. Crisis averted!

Do you happen to actually follow Vermin? I grew up in a Libertarian house and have been aware of Vermin Supreme as a LP candidate for decades. But I started following him on Facebook maybe a year ago and he's a lot more left-leaning than I would have previously guessed. So I'm wondering if he's changed or maybe he's just actually out of step with the LP and it's just part of his performance.

I google him every few months, just to see if he’s up to anything. And then check up on him this time of year during a presidential race. He’s usually in there and he’s actually on a ticket this year I think in some state. Lol

Vermin Supreme! He will take your guns... and give you better guns!

He definitely cuts the tension in the air that usually sits in stuffy debates. I respect his hustle.

Missing these folks...yippie!!!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigasus_(politics)

Pigasus, also known as Pigasus the Immortal and Pigasus J. Pig, was a 145-pound (66 kg) domestic pig that was nominated for President of the United States as a theatrical gesture by the Youth International Party on August 23, 1968, just before the opening of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.[1][2][3][4] The youth-oriented party (whose members were commonly called "Yippies") was an anti-establishment and countercultural revolutionary group whose views were inspired by the free speech and anti-war movements of the 1960s, mainly the opposition to United States involvement in the Vietnam War.

In Sweden, we have the "Donald Duck Party". Don't know if they still exist, but they hung on for a long time. Their platform was "free booze for everyone and wider sidewalks!"

Mind you, the way things have been going, their thing starts looking downright sensible by comparison... Ugh, hate it when reality gets crazier than obvious satire.
