I've still got my share of bad habits that I would love to get rid of. Make more room for the good ones.

In my experience, there is no dilemma. Though when I quit a bad habit I might not know what good habits I will start.

I'm not the only both/and thinker here, I see!

Yeah, sometimes I do have to consciously replace the bad habit with an opposite good habit. But for the purposes of this dichotomy, I would say "Drop a bad habit" because those are easy to identify by the damage they cause!

As indicated by Jeremy, the best way to drop a bad habit is to start a new one, and the surest way to do that is to begin a new habit that is incompatible with the old habit.  In the business the process was called DRI….differential reinforcement of incompatible behavior. So,  like Jeremy , I would say they tend to be the same. But, if I could, I would rather drop a bad habit….especially if I didn’t have to replace it.

Starting new good habits is usually easier than stopping bad habits.  That said though life would likely more improved if I stopped any one of the bad habits I haven't beaten yet.  So I guess dropping the habit would and should be the answer.

I'm with Jeremy. It seems like any bad habit I want to stop begins with starting a new good habit. So, I'll take Start a good one, please.

I'd be happy to lose a bad habit. I think it would free time and energy for good habits I've already got going to expand and flourish.

Drop a bad one, and it can be done in 60 days, if you work on it.
