I have a small permaculturally inspired & uncertified organic farm in trinity county, Northern California. 20 minutes to the closest town (Douglas city), ridge top location with unlimited hiking possibilities, and incredible sunsets.
There are so many projects that it's almost overwhelming to think of them in a list format like this. Wwoofrs will receive training and leave here with some skill in some combination of the following activities: veggie garden
, sheet mulching, orchard work/tree planting, kitchen/canning, beekeeping, growing and wild crafting medicinal plants, medicine making, unfinished cob house and sauna, chickens, sheep, dairy goats(milking and bottle feeding), animal husbandry, cheese/yogurt making, solar projects including both electric and h20, swale digging, water filtration, pond digging, and will consider any projects you bring to the table. *Also need help with anything computer(they just dont like me) would love to have a facebook page or wesite. I have lots of pics that could be used.
I am looking both for long and short term, also skilled or unskilled - you just need a good work ethic and want to learn. I am looking to trade labor for food/housing with the possibility of a paying position opening up. There are a couple rustic cabins, a teepee, and lots of great camping spots - these all share a communal kitchen, composting toilet, and bath house.
Children ok if they do well with other critters - i have dogs cats chickens that run free.
I normally work pretty long days but your projects will be 9amish-noonish with a siesta and then 2pmish – 5pmish. There is also optional work helping with all the animals- feeding, milking, watering, ect. The farm goes everyday but everybody needs a day off once a week. People without cars who stay more than 2 weeks will be taken on an excursion.
Please bring a sun hat, work gloves, and old clothes (T shirts, long pants, sweatshirt), old shoes and sox.
Lots of outdoor opportunities in the area - swimholes, wilderness areas, biking, fishing, rafting, beaches. . .
Drive times: Arcata and the coast=2.5 hours - The redwoods=2 hours - San Fransisco= 4-5 hours - mount shasta= 2 hours - closest hot spring=2 hours - trinity river= 20 minutes - trinity lake=45 minutes
The train, bus and airplane all drop off in Redding, ca(1.5 hours east) and a local bus stops a mile from the ranch. If you don't have a car don't worry.
I will pick any wwoofr up and then drop them back off at the train, bus , or plane.Spring has hit and i am hard at work out here on the farm and lookin for some help! I have been workin in the gardens and planting and deer caging trees in the orchard. Last month brought a new puppy(mystic), a dairy goat with 2 kids, 3 sheep, and 4 rabbits. I've been planting in the garden and working on getting the greenhouse back up.

I dont check email every day so feel free to call. 530-623-7725
