Thermo - Electrics are very cool, unfortunately they are still very inefficient, other wise we could power our house from our wood stove.

There was a group of guys in my college class that build a can cooler that used a thermoelectric pannel, and on max power they could freeze a can solid in a couple minute....

I diddn't even realize that there was such technology. Too bad it's not more efficient, that would be great if people could capture more waste heat as electricity.

At this tiny scale it seems to make sense though, at least for backpackers, or maybe early settlers at the land. Or excuse me, at "the project".

Id be like, hmm.. my cell phone is getting low, must be time to sit down and make some tea.

I have one, and it's pretty fun! Once it gets hot, it REALLY cranks and you can do some good cooking/boiling water. They also have a grill attachment that spreads out the flame, i want to try that, it would be great for a trip to the beach!

Because it's optimized for backpacking, it's a little flimsy. You probably wouldn't want to cook on it every day, and you couldn't cook for more than two people on it. I already bent one of the tripod legs on mine so it's a bit rickety now. Look at their "Homestove" version for one that might be better suited for "TL". It's not available in the US for purchase yet, but maybe we could write them a proposal to send one out to TL for homesteading testing purposes.
