Its a four and a half foot Square. I'm not sure if its big enough because. Mandi had a panic attack and I had to let her out. Then Sheena tried to find a way out. Is it just nerves becauseis new? I only made it because Peach's first egg is due today. There's three hens inside Mandi a Mayans, Sheena a Barneldver, and Lastly Peach the Pointing.
What do you think?
thanks for any help
( Peach is Five, Mandi & Sheena are one )
I'll leave you with a pic of it, and Peach trying to eat all the food:]

I don't know what you are trying to accomplish, but someone told you to pen up the chickens and wait until their first egg is "due"? One, no one can tell you exactly when the first egg is "due" and that egg won't be hatched unless your hen goes broody and the egg has been fertilized by a rooster in previous matings and then she sits on it for 22 days consistently.

If you are isolating each hen in a pen of her own this small and she is not broody, of course she is wanting out! They are social animals and live in a flock unless they are broody and want to sit on eggs...if your girl is wanting out, she is not broody or sitting on a clutch of eggs.

Yes..in answer to your question..that area is much too small an area to keep a hen or hens unless they are currently sitting on a nest of eggs with the intent to hatch them.

The egg was laid on the 25th, and I candled it on the 5th so its going ahead as normal. All three are brood and trying to hatch, but the Marans gets up every few hours and goes outside for a stroll....
I think it was just panic as they have calmed down and the Barneldver and Marans went back to their nests within 15 mins
Thanks Jay
