I had a mouse trap idea I wanted to share for your consideration and input.

The basic approach is to lead a tube up a tree and into a bucket where birds of prey would easily find a snack. There probably would have to be a one way opening at the ground entrance to force the mouse to continue up the tube to "escape".

My home is just a few feet from some woods that the mice travel from to cohabit with me and my family. Since I cannot have cats around my dog (fun toys that they are), I was racking my brain upon a non-toxic and easily maintained system of control. This was the best that I have come up with so far.

Thanks,

I'm not sure how high a mouse will climb up but I know they will walk up a short ramp into a five gallon bucket. Smear a little peanut butter just out of the mouses reach on the inside of the bucket. They fall in trying to figure out how to reach the reward. I suppose you could just hoist the bucket up a tree for the birds if that is your goal, once the mice are caught.

I like the idea. Maybe a bird of prey that also acts as a scavenger. the bucket must have the ability to allow the bird to access the rodent with out being trapped or harmed in the proccess. Build a proto type and post pictures. That would be cool.
I like any way to remove unwanted guests with out using poisons this is a fun one to think about.
