(I hope this is in the right place)

Hello all. I have been interested in living on a farm/ranch and off the land (as much as possible) for a very long time now. I am very concerned with many things in American society and Economy. I have been wanting to visit a few places and see if they were O.K. to live in and perhaps either acquire land or share it with someone who has ties to the area.

I have been thinking of Georgia (The country) and Mongolia, mainly, as they do not require Visas to travel to. Georgia has a similar climate to California, or so I've heard.

I've heard Mongolia can be hell in the winter and spring, but nice in the summer, and their culture and lifestyle is extremely fascinating to me. Plus, I love wrestling, and they are one the biggest wrestling cultures in the world.

I am hoping that I will be able to find a farm to host me in one or the other of these countries.

Does anyone have any experiences, positive or negative, in the these countries? (or any other central asian countries? Kazakhstan, kyrgys republic, etc.)

Thank you!

I wish I could offer something insightful here. I've really been interested in Georgia too. It looks amazing with many many different microclimates. Best of luck on getting more info. Consider me another interested party.

Try Northern Thailand beautiful place, lovely people. Many concepts of permaculture have existed here for 100s of years already.

Thanks for the info Jori! I'll look into Thailand as well.

Yes Landon, I think Georgia is a very interesting place. My only real concerns are the history it has had with russia and what is currently going on in the Ukraine. Russia seems to have an obsession with, umm, "inviting" it's neighbors to join in on the party.

Mongolia is extremely sparcely populated, which actually appeals to me, and I've heard they are extremely friendly, as are many places in the world it seems (many, not all)

Thanks for your interest!
