found this guy in my garden today and i would love to celebrate it and put him on something he'd like to Munch on but i haven't got a clue.. found him on a fallen palm frond.

anyone have a clue what it is? i checked several identification guides but i can't seem to find him.

I'm always seeing new to me species of critters like that so I also hope to learn what that one is, just in case they also live in S W Georgia. Was this one found just as it was photographed or was it on something else?

It looks like a pipevine swallowtail to me.

that's exactly what it is. i asked my neighbor, she's"the butterfly lady".. sadly i put it in the bulk compost heap instead of on her pipevine plant. When i went out to find it he had already moved on.
