Went down the rabbit hole a bit the past couple of days at this site:

Seems quite a wealth of information on the subject of making your own diesel fuel.

I found it very interesting the number of uses they found in waste products from production of fuel and the varied uses they were putting the fuel to. The numbers on improved gasoline engine performance through addition of a bit of biodiesel were quite intriguing.

have over 200k miles on my car and truck, with straight veg oil. to me it's a waste of time and money to make biodiesel. svo works perfectly winter or summer. i've saved over 20,000 dollars on diesel fuel in the last 9 years at 4dol a gal. i don't care if it goes down to 50cents a gallon at the pump. i pay pretty much zero per gallon. the oil is easy to find in or around lawrence kansas. to me it's a "hobby" paying me over 75 dollars an hour when diesel is around 4dol a gallon. poor me right now it's 2.68 a gallon.

Peter, WVO is great if you run an older vehicle and / or are not concerned with the operational condition of your diesel engine. Those of us with newer vehicles need the conversion to B100 in order to save our injectors and catalytic converters from their eventual demise under pure oil. I applaud those using either. We ran B100 for 15K miles in our Duramax with no issues, our move being the only reason we temporarily quit producing.
