Ok. I'm a newbie here. If you can jump on my train of thought, do. First watch, on youtube in no particular order, Fred Tutwiler's test of his home made HoD conversion on his Ford Explorer, I think. He appears to be from Cary, NC(aka Stepford, we live in the next county), speaks like an engineer. I recognize the station where he topped off his gas tank prior to the mpg test-results: before HoD 16.5 mpg, after @27 mpg. This is a big heavy v8 powered SUV. Then, Royal Lawrence's improved, aluminum plate H generator. Boy does that thing cook! Royal says he used a rolling pin to flatten a heavy cooking pan, like a frozen lasagna might come in, so he could cut his plates. Then, if you can find it, the two guys who claim to have run a 3,000 mi.(think I remember that right) test on their pu truck, using ONLY self generated H. No gas at all. They swapped out the alternator for a more powerful one and built a H generator considerably larger than most, about 2/3 the size of a small to medium footlocker. Too big to locate under the hood, they had to put it in the bed. I would like to know if they were able to drive at night. They didn't say. (If you want to see a horrible example of arrogance, and not listening to and following directions, watch the "Mythbusters" clip.) My biggest project and obvious first step is putting a HoD generator under the hood of my 3.9l Dodge pickup, this week, I hope. I know this has an odor of perpetual motion, and sounds impossible, but too many redneck mad scientists have been doing this for several years now. I believe, in the US, there is a law which basically says that this doesn't void your new car warranty, either. Could be you need professional installation of a commercially made unit, but they are only a couple hundred dollars and the install looks like a breeze.

Anyhow, my idea is to use a stationary engine to generate its own fuel and run a generator big enough to run a big house at peak demand, store the excess capacity in whatever batteries you can obtain most cheaply, and in the winter, using the coolant(no reason for that not to be water, as any freeze plugs that might rust out out would be easily accessible and you could flush rust out of the system as frequently as you wished)heat or at least assist, in heating your home. Since storage capacity would be available, seems to me like solar panels, paid for from the savings in power bills, a solar array, might over the course of a few years, make the engine powered generator the back up, instead of the primary power source. I realize how crazy this all sounds, but the trick seems to be the catalyst. There are several, I understand, but some of them are not safe for you and me, nor, I suspect, for the environment. Baking soda seems to be the safest and cheapest. Electrolysis of water produces Brown's gas which of course, is made up of two atoms of hydrogen for each atom of oxygen. Of course, it is quite EXPLOSIVE. But this system leaves no carbon footprint at all! When I saw the Tutwiler video, my first thought was, "Well, if you can increase mileage by 70%, with one small gas-maker, why not just do away with the petrol altogether?" Got to get to work. Please criticize and add new ideas. This looks like a pretty large community. Waddaya think?

Read carefully above, the part where I said, "the trick seems to be the catalyst."

Don T. : Welcome to, our sister site, this is the largest gathering of permaculture members with
over 27,000 members world wide, you can come here at your convenience 24 / 7 and talk to someone with widely, some would say wildly
different points of view ! They will stretch your mind as you stretch theirs !

The ability to think 'outside the box' is a gift we all try to respect when we see it in others! Only when we are willing to share and accept
new ideas, and points of view -will we be able to see change, without change there can be no improvement

First, I need to say that You-Tube performs NO Checks of Probity, Truthfulness or Safety of ANY of the videos it allows people to
post to its Forums, it Never Has! You-tube is hungry for more and more content and it would be a violation of theirBusiness model to do so !

Also You-tube will not remove a video that has received thousands of complaints on for ANY Safety issue ! ( See Reason above ! )

Any thing you see on you tube must be independently verified before trusting ANYTHING you think you see there ! There is a Tremendous
amount of Crap, extremely rank, stinky crap! Let the Viewer beware ! !!!

I suscribe to the idea that you can disassociate a water molecule -carefully collecting one gas at the positive terminal, and the other at the
negative terminal! I further believe that entraining hydrogen into the air stream at the intake manifold could under some conditions improve
the combustion of your other Petroleum/Bio Fuels, this improved performance could make for cleaner burns and longevity of your Stationary
Engine !

However there is no free lunch, due to -mostly the poor percentage of efficiency in the operation of the stationary engine, and the power loses
in running a fan belt to spin a Generator /Alternator, and their inefficiencies, Energy lost as heat mostly in the wiring in the H.o.d. device, even
starting out with a full tank your system is doomed to run itself down !

Any water-cooled engine that you can find will have a Water Pump to circulate the water to its radiator ! An additional job of your antifreeze
is to lubricate the water pump and its seals. Without some additional source of lubrication your pump will definitely fail, probably by failure of
its seal . If you are not in attendance when this happens your house will grow cold and dark !

As you are already thinking along the Co-generation lines, may I suggest that you check out tyne Wikipedia Article Co-generation which also
covers Domestic Combined Heat and Power C.H.P. where the efficient use of the two streams heat and electrical energy are used to extract
the most amount of power from Petroleum/bio/gas. this is getting very serious attention where connection to the electrical grid is too
expensive, impossible or unwanted ! For the Good of the crafts ! I hope that you will find this helpful and timely !

Think like fire! flow like a Gas! Don't be a marshmallow! as always your questions and comments are solicited and Welcome Big AL
