Soybeans are not healthy... They are very estrogenic, they are bad for bones and teeth in the long run (lot's of anti-nutrients and phytic acid). Baby-boys fed on soy milk have been reported to reach puberty much later, having their breast grow, but not their penis. This is a serious affliction, creating a lot of psychological problems for these boys in the future.
Soy was initially used by the chinese as crop rotation to enrich the soil. It's beans were only eaten in time of starvation. In some of their ancient scriptures, soy was illustrated as it's ROOTS, not it's beans, because of it's use to the earth, not as food.
Tofu was "discovered" in buddhist monasteries, where the monks enjoyed it as it lowered their sexdrive. It has been said also that japanese wives used to give tofu to husbands they knew were cheating on them... They knew already about it.

Found this on the Weston A Price homepage:

‹EXPERTS DENOUNCE HIGH-SOY DIET OF ILLINOIS PRISONERS

Too Much Soy Causes Serious Health Problems, Plaintiffs Claim

Washington, DC, June 26, 2012 — Plaintiffs in the lawsuit Harris et al. v. Brown, et al., Case No. 3:07-cv-03225 have submitted testimony of four qualified experts confirming the claim that large amounts of soy in the prison diet can cause serious health problems. In 2004, the state of Illinois began using large amounts of soy in prison menus to save money and use less meat.

Sponsored by the Weston A. Price Foundation, a nutrition education non-profit foundation, the lawsuit claims that the soy being fed to the plaintiffs, in the amounts being fed to them, constitutes cruel and unusual punishment in violation of the eighth amendment to the Constitution, as well as a denial of plaintiffs’ liberty in violation of their due process rights under the fourteenth amendment to the Constitution.

Plaintiff health complaints include chronic and painful constipation alternating with debilitating diarrhea, vomiting after eating, sharp pains in the digestive tract, especially after consuming soy, passing out, heart palpitations, rashes, acne, insomnia, panic attacks, depression and symptoms of hypothyroidism, such as low body temperature (feeling cold all the time), brain fog, fatigue, weight gain, frequent infections and thyroid disease.

Public Health Expert Sylvia P. Onusic, PhD, submitted an analysis of prison menus showing that soy protein in prison meals approaches 100 grams per day, four times greater than the amount recommended by the Food and Drug Administration. Soy protein is added in large amounts to meat patties, meat mixes and sauces, and in smaller amounts to almost all baked goods. The soy in the prison food is a deliberate artificial manipulation using processed soy products, manufactured using highly technical process and toxic chemicals

Toxicologist Mike Fitzpatrick, PhD, provided evidence that even 50 grams of soy can cause thyroid problems, including thyroid cancer. Soy contains compounds called phytoestrogens, which depress thyroid function and cause endocrine disruption.

Physician David Brownstein, MD, submitted his opinion that the amount of soy fed to the plaintiffs is, to a reasonable degree of scientific certainty, responsible for causing their health problems, including gastrointestinal distress and bowel dysfunction, vitamin deficiencies (vitamins B12 and D) as well as thyroid disorders.

Laboratory analysis expert William Shaw, PhD, noted that soy protein has the highest oxalate level of any known food and that the prisoners are receiving hundreds of milligrams of oxalates per day. According to Shaw, virtually all of the plaintiffs’ health problems can be explained by their high-oxalate diet. The toxicity of oxalates is well established; oxalates can deposit sharp crystals not only in the kidneys, but in virtually every tissue and organ of the body, including joints, heart, blood vessels, teeth, gums, eyes, skin, brain, nerves, thyroid and thymus glands. Oxalates also block the absorption of many essential minerals, leading to malnutrition.

From the same site:

Kaayla T. Daniel, PhD, CCN, author of The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America’s Favorite Health Food. “Soy is not only one of the top eight allergens but has been linked in more than sixty years of studies to malnutrition, digestive distress, thyroid dysfunction, reproductive disorders including infertility, and even cancer, especially breast cancer.”

Anything as detrimental to the health of the people as those links and information you present about soy is almost enough to frighten all. I take the Weston A Price information with a grain of salt. It is all over the internet. There are many authors who condemn Weston A Price and his babble outright. All it means is you and me as individuals have to study the information and make our own decisions. I have already made my decision, and unilaterally have decided to utilize soy in all its manifestations. I treat it as a miracle food with many nutritional benefits.

Clearly anything in excessive quantities can be detrimental to one's well being, but soy has so many overwhelming benefits, that to condemn it outright and avoid its consumption is utter nonsense.

I might add, that we as a people, consume many other common foods without a moments hesitation, yet all know they are harmful. To name a few, High Fructose Corn Syrup, sugar in all its manifestations, alcohol, tobacco, many recreational drugs, various packaged supermarket foods, bottled drinks, etc.

There are many scientist and groups that are concerned about soy. The information I am about to share comes from Mercolas site, from 2 different articles.

The soy industry went from 300 million dollars in 92 to almost 4 billions in 2006, after big advertising campaigns: it's really big business.
The problemes with soy are many, and there are many out there who don't view it as health food.
Babies given soy formula have up to 20.000 times more estrogen than those fed other formulas. The soy formula given to them corresponds to 5 birth control pills' with oestrogen each day.
Babies get also severe problems concerning thyroid disruption.
Soy isoflavones, the plant oestrogen in soy said to fight cancer, are in fact in many toxicology textbooks seen as promoting cancer. Studies have also proven that soy increases the growth of breast cancer

I think the key words are too much soy. Another consideration is processed soy as opposed to the whole food.

Then there is the fact that Asians invented soy sauce, tofu, and other soy products. I have to take the hear-say with a grain of salt. And eat my soy in moderation as well as whole.
