If you keep your eyes peeled around the house at Base Camp, you'll notice a number of practical whittled wares. Sam's doings.

This one is in the Bunk Room bedroom.

I assume the outdoor stuff was done with a chainsaw. Dressing with a broad axe or a draw knife can change the look.

I had a chainsawn bench seat that had very rough edges. After I dragged it down the dirt road several times as a grader,  it became more rustic looking with rounded edges.

I assumed that the crescent notches were done with a chainsaw, but the romantic-pastoral side of me imagined that the flat span of the bench came about from Tony and Emily's nice collection of saws.

Maybe they'll hop on the forum and burst my romance bubble.

I am 96.3% sure that it was all done via chain saw

With such nice straight grain, it looks like the seat could have been done by riving. Sledge and wedge, split along the grain, one bench seat Would still want to take an axe or saw to it for notching to match up with the supports.

Jesse continues working on his roundwood table. He's been doing it all by hand: by chisel, by mallet, by saw.
His mallet is also of his own making.
