We live on 14 acres, 4 miles from the rural, small town of Joseph, OR.

The Wallowa Mountains and Eagle Cap Wilderness are our back yard.

We have a 2000 sq. ft. greenhouse with gravity flow drip irrigation. It is a 4 season greenhouse, with no heat, yet able to over-winter some greens.

We have year round creek (with water so clean you can drink it) and a pond.

Several other fenced fruit and vegetable gardens on the property.

We have around 30 free-range laying hens and raise pigs in the summer for fall harvest. We have 2 horses and 4 mules, mostly used for packing during hunting season in Sept./Oct. We have a Great Pyrenese dog and some cats.

Old apple orchard, and a young fruit orchard with more than 15 kinds of fruit

For lodging: we offer a 16’ yurt with a rustic bath house/shed with composting toilet and on-demand hot water shower. wood stove to provide heat (firewood is included, though you have to chop/haul it from our woodshed) The yurt sits beside the creek with lots of privacy and mountain views. Food not included --other than what the land produces (veggies, fruit, eggs) Yurt is furnished with a small kitchen. Has running water, power, refrig, hot plate, micro, double bed, dining table, couch and other small furnishings

We are looking for someone who would like to trade rent for work, we are thinking around 7 hours per week, which roughly equates to $300/month.
If additional paid work is desired, we can discuss.
We would like to be able to leave town occasionally and have a “caretaker” while we are gone.
The duties will change from week to week – anything from weeding, watering, mucking out the chicken coop, picking and freezing fruits and vegetables, chopping firewood.

We are open to a “sharecropping” situation, if you wanted to grow and sell vegetables at the Farmer’s Market.

please email lskovlin@gmail.com if you are interested.

Ten years experience care taking. We are an organic family who live in a tiny house on wheels. We we have two year old son who we homeschool. We have experience caring for large and small animals, have grown several organic gardens and are looking for like minded educated people to help out with their homesteading. I have been a teacher, daycare provider and currently a gymnastics coach. My husband has a masters in business and currently works as a account relationship manager at a corporate bank.
Our dream is to eventually be self sustainable. We love care taking and a very hard workers! We do not smoke, eat all organic, and see a holistic doctor for supplements and homeopathic remedies. I do not drink and my husband has less than 1 beer a week. Here is our blog https://www.facebook.com/tinyhousebigmoments/. We use all organic and mostly homemade cleaning products that are environmentally safe and toxin free. I am an excellent cleaner and organizer. Feel free to contact at koec0016@gmail.com we live in a tiny house on wheels so are available now.
