I've been wanting to put up a living barrier on my property boundary to mainly block the stench of the neighbors' toxic laundry detergent odors from ruining my outdoor life.
What would be a good recommendation(low cost ideally) to help achieve this goal? Thick shrubs perhaps? I know very little about plant types so any suggestions would be very helpful.

I live in Northwestern PA.
hardiness zone 5 or 6 ish
