It was scary in a way how she related that many of our diseases and body problems that maybe are said to run in a family, might actually be because we do the same things our parents did. Eat the same way, spend our time the same way, that the things that plague us is possibly linked right down to our movements or lack of movements.

An example could be heart disease, runs in the family or does sitting around, over-eating run in the family? Bad knees? Or hips? Maybe being overweight runs in the family.

She even attacks you exercise folks, runners that can't help a friend move or lift the ottoman out of the way. She is a huge advocate of getting off the treadmill or track and getting back to nature. She even suggests wearing shoes cripples us.

I listened to it while pre-occupied with April 15th issues so I am going back to listen again, I am including both the Amazon link http://www.amazon.com/Move-Your-DNA-Restore-Movement/dp/0989653943/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429054853&sr=8-1&keywords=move+your+dna

and the Audible link: http://www.audible.com/pd/Health-Fitness/Move-Your-DNA-Audiobook/B00NUBNNYQ/ref=a_search_c4_1_1_srTtl?qid=1429055377&sr=1-1

We love Katy over here, though we're not as good as we should be about implementing some of the practices she advocates. I do squat to work a lot more now than I used to, and am pretty much a convert to minimalist footwear.

Have you been to her blog? http://www.katysays.com. It's a huge store of information. A little overwhelming really, but really great stuff.

Have not, but thank you for the link. So are you a powerlifter?

She probably has endorsed "the squatty potty", I nearly blew coffee out of my nose listening to her talk about "streamlining the elimination route"(paraphrased of course). She talks of keeping some thick books near the toilet.

http://www.squattypotty.com My niece Quincy swears by its use.

No, not a power lifter. Just a largely sedentary work-at-homer trying to be a little less awful to myself. Husband used to do bodybuilding though, and he's been watching a lot of powerlifters YouTube videos lately for hints on how best to do his work around the homestead without breaking himself, so it's funny you should ask.

We use a bucket composting toilet and were just talking about the best way to build an unobtrusive squatting bench to use with it. I feel like I've got my own way of getting in the right position and don't really need it, but the internet insists that it will change my life, so... we shall see.

Katy Bowman's material changed my health for the better in major ways! I'm always telling people how awesome her stuff is.

I've greatly improved my pelvis balance, back pain, foot pain, corrected my pelvic floor issues, and my almost daily tension migraines are gone!

I change to flat, thin soled footwear, sleep on a flat wooden platform with a little firm padding for insulation, changed the way I move, sit on the floor much more often, walk barefoot out side more often, do the squatty potty thing, etc. All these things were simple, cheap changes and they changed my life! I have healed so much and am confident I will continue to heal and improve my health. I LOVE Katy!

You learn how to close your eyes and tell yourself "this just isn't really happening to me." Tiny ad:
