What kind of electric fencing do you use?

Hey, I'm wondering what kinds of electric fence everyone is using. I've been using Premier 1 for fencing and energizers from Tractor supply (Zareba). I love the fence, but the energizers don't seem to last. What have you had good luck with?

I'd like to join this search, also, as I need to fence in my raised beds to keep the rodents out.

I got both my fence and energizers from premier 1. Both are still working well after 5 years, same battery too. Please note I do take both my fence and charger in during the winter and I have disconnected the bottom most shocking line so as to lower drag on the fence charger when the weeds grow in.

Thank you for the lead. I contacted Premier 1. For small rodents, they recommend a 2' high hardware cloth (maximum 1/2") fence (grounded) with a hot 1/8" IntelliTwine cable 1" above it. They suggest their HotShock 5 (Plug-In) Energizer Kit (Item #1120052) to energize it, along with their 3/8" fiberglass rods and insulators.

Without the grounded hardware cloth fence, the rodents jump up and are no longer grounded, so don't get shocked.

I had a zareba. Now I have a premiere1, the big plug in one. Completely different class of machine. It was recommended by a friend I trust. He has premiere, kencove, stafix, and another one I can't remember.

Pretty much any machine made in Germany, Australia, or New Zealand is good if you choose the specs to meet your needs..

If you want solar for anything more than a garden or tiny paddock; buy a 12v fencer, a deep cycle battery, and a solar panel and charge controller.

We fenced our garden in with Premier's VersaNet 12/60/3 because we had both deer and rodents. The fence charger was the PRS 100. We had a great experience with both items, and no critters broke through. Looking forward to year two with them.

Thanks for the replies. I've been using Premier 1 for the fencing for years (all year round) and it's been amazing. I haven't ever used anything else, and haven't needed to. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something else superior.

I didn't have any luck with my Zareba energizers. I've been using Parmak for my solar and plug-in chargers and have had good success.
