Hi guys,

I've been poking around the last couple weeks and thought I should finally get around to introducing myself

I'm native to Elgin, Illinois and wandered over to permaculture from the aquaponics world. I've been growing aquaponically for the last four years, and I also have experience with woodchip gardening, compost (worm and thermal), compost teas, mushroom cultivation, and a smidge of insect breeding (mealworms and black soldier flies mostly).

Just want to say I'm very happy to be here and I'll be out stalking the aquaponics section if you need me for anything!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that my wife and I also live in a 144 sq ft. tiny house built on a trailer, in case that's of interest to anybody......

Great to have you here Alex! Love that tiny house. Did you guys build it? Or just buy it?

Glad you like it! We purchased it from a builder in California, then had it shipped here to Illinois. I didn't have the time or the energy to build one myself

Been living in it since November 2014.

Here are a couple interior pictures:

Awesome. Love off-grid lifestyle.
My wife and I living off-grid. We built an awesome low-budget-friendly tiny house sourcing a ton of repurposed materials

One of the aspects we’ve enjoyed the most in our experience of living tiny and minimally for four years has been being off-grid.

The barrel was packed to the top with fish. And he was shooting the fish. This tiny ad stopped him:
