snake bite juice.
Stephen, have you had any laxative side effects from the Epsom salts?

Good question, and I've thought about this frequently this past week. Speaking for myself personally: I already have a fair amount of fiber in my diet (I eat a vegetarian and nearly-always-vegan diet), so I've experienced very little up-tick or distress in that area. I typically have two BMs a day, around the same time each day, and that hasn't changed. Considering the epsom salts are only one part of six in the mixture, and the dosage seems small, I wouldn't expect dramatic results in general.

Like any new regimen, I suppose it's common to start off slow and light, and then gradually build up one's tolerance (I mean, it tastes intensely salty). I wonder if we could make the snakebite juice without epsom salts and achieve similar effects/results. Haven't done any trials or experiments with that, however. Until I saw this recipe, I'd never considered ingesting epsom salts, instead opting to follow the advice on the label: "for external use only." It was only late last week that I heard epsom salts could be used as a laxative, although I'd been drinking it in my water since mid-June.

Hopefully all that provides some insight, John.

BRK #346

More sawmill action and troubleshooting on a Friday. Ryan continued to mill 3/8" planks, with Shai as the assistant.

They wrapped-up with quite a nice slab. Kinda-sorta salivating over the possibilities for how we can use it...

We discovered that when the blade is vertical, sometimes the water (the coolant) doesn't pour onto the blade - either enough, or at all. We checked the blade in both positions, then made some minute adjustments to the position of the tiny hose that squirts out water. Now it's working properly, whether the blade is horizontal or vertical.

Here's the blade as it's oriented vertically:

Here's the blade while it's oriented horizontally (didn't have a problem with coolant in this position, but wanted to include it here for clarity).

Meanwhile: Farewell, Ryan! Thanks for being here. The week went by too fast, but I hope you enjoyed your time here. Have a safe, boring trip back home.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

BRK #347

A warm, hazy day today, where I wandered around Missoula and passed by the annual event "Pet Fest." We have plenty of cats on site, so I didn't bring any new ones back home with me.

There were lots of folks in the river today, floating and paddling to beat the late-season heat. The river is low, particularly in the tributaries. Here's the view to the west on the south side of Beartracks Bridge, on Higgins Street.

So I know the "Big M" stands for "Missoula." But what does the "Big L" stand for? I'm just here, looking for the rest of the alphabet on the nearby hills.

I like seeing these vines crawl along the rails by this exterior stairwell. It reminds me of what I did for the paddock fence by the front door of the Fisher Price House.

Finally: here's the view back home, in the evening. The haze finally started to clear close to sundown, and the skies were turning blue again.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy the rest of your weekend...!
