Hello, I work for a farm in Port Angeles Washington called Westwind Farm.

We are not exactly "permacultured" but we are heading towards living a truly sustainable lifestyle out here.  Our farm serves to the community at our local farmer's market.  We have had a steady slow year and with the increase in competition yet same level of customers, I am looking to invest next year's work more towards infulstructure for the future community here, and/or using the commercial kitchen to set up some wholesale operation to alleviate our work load and allow for more permaculture, land respecting, work.

So as an intern here for two years I can declare that I work as an intern for a rough 30-40 hours a week.  we offer to pay those two stay longer than two months of a small stipen.  We have many guest rooms, tons of acres to camp on, and new building projects that could be called home.  It helps to be physically prepared for this lifestyle and also to at least have average gardening experience.  We enjoy teaching those from the ground up even with expectations of staying only a month, but do want to set up a trial basis for those who have no experience but dream of the long term living.

As of right now I am the only worker here, the other two are a married couple who own the land.  This year could use one more permanent person, along side a temp worker for harvesting.  We will defiantly need an army of folks next year though.  we had two students come this year that got us by.

So if you are interested in more information, pictures, or maybe a phone/e-mail conversation please contact me at:

Thanks for your time,

Hi Russel!
Im interested in working/interning at West Winds Farm, if its still open. I have some experience managing a small garden, however Im going to call myself an ongoing student as the garden I worked in was in Southern California, and the environment was a tad different. I was curious about your policies on animal friends, as I have a small cat that I would like to accompany me. Im interested in something a little more long term than two months, and would like to hear more about both the trial and eventual pay (yay student loans!). Please let me know, and send some pictures!
Thank you and happy farming,
Elaine B.
