I'm putting a destination Cafe/Organic Farm and Guesthouse together on Etajima, an island near Hiroshima. My partner and I have a 100 YO Japanese Farm house. There's scarce farming to do right now.. just getting soil prepared and putting some winter wheat as well as garlic/onions in. There is a lot of construction to be done. I am experienced in a wide range of building techniques.
The following projects are underway: Building charcoal retort, laying concrete for workshop, walks and drainage system, building drainage system and regrading property/moisture remediation, building rocket mass system, building new bath area/minigreenhouse, building workshop...
These are in the planning stages: New kitchen, Composting toilet system (simple concrete double chamber), Electrical rewiring, Structural building repairs, replumb. lighting, build woodoven for breads/meats, build outdoor heated pool. There's more but you get the idea. Skills are nice but it doesn't matter as long as you want to learn and aren't afraid to get dirty.
I love cooking with fire and make fantastic fire-roasted meats, pizzas, ferments and the art of traditional bread making (I started a new sourdough just before I typed this). My partner is Japanese and can teach you Japanese things. If you want to find a way to be in Japan and want to learn some of this stuff (and not blow a ton of cash) connect with me. Between us we can speak English, Japanese and workable Spanish. Eventually interested people can get various positions here doing foods and farming.
Why is the word "abbreviation" so long? And this ad is so short?
